Plagiarism Policy
The International Journal of Engineering Research and Sustainable Technologies (IJERST) is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing.
Plagiarism Screening
IJERST routinely screens submitted manuscripts for plagiarism and text similarity using iThenticate. Similarity reports are manually examined by the editorial team to identify potential plagiarism, unattributed use of published material, excessive text overlap, duplicate publication, and other concerns relating to originality.
Editorial Assessment
A similarity score alone does not establish plagiarism. Editors assess the similarity report in context, considering the nature and extent of matching text, appropriate citations, quotations, references, standard terminology, and the originality of the manuscript's contribution.
Where necessary, the editorial team may request clarification or revisions from the authors, reject a manuscript, or take further action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures.
Author Responsibilities
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts represent original work, appropriately acknowledge the work and ideas of others, provide accurate citations, and obtain permission where required to reproduce copyrighted material. Manuscripts must not contain plagiarized material or be submitted in violation of publication ethics.
Consequences of Plagiarism
If plagiarism or substantial unattributed overlap is identified before publication, the manuscript may be returned for clarification or revision, or rejected, depending on the seriousness of the concern. If a problem is identified after publication, the journal may investigate and take appropriate corrective action, including issuing a correction or retracting the article where warranted.
IJERST reserves the right to make editorial decisions based on the findings of its assessment and the seriousness of any ethical breach.
